"The Biggest Youth Climate Gathering of 2025 is Here — Are You Ready?" announced organizers on social media, highlighting the scale and significance of the upcoming event. The Local Conference of Youth (LCOY) Bangladesh 2025, organized by LCOY Bangladesh 2025 and Seecto Bangladesh, will operate under the theme "Youth Voices, Climate Choices" and focus on climate governance and just transition issues.

The two-day summit will center discussions around three critical areas: Nationally Determined Contributions (NDCs) examining Bangladesh's climate commitments under the Paris Agreement and youth roles in implementation; Just Transition & Climate Governance addressing equitable approaches to moving away from fossil fuels while protecting vulnerable communities; and Youth-led Climate Action & Policy Advocacy developing strategies for young people to influence climate policy at national and local levels. LCOY Bangladesh 2025 expects to draw 200 passionate youth representatives from across Bangladesh's eight administrative divisions, including climate activists working on frontline environmental issues, university and college students engaged in sustainability research, young innovators developing climate solutions, and changemakers implementing community-based adaptation projects. The event is being coordinated by LCOY Bangladesh 2025 in partnership with Seecto Bangladesh. The Local Conference of Youth (LCOY) is part of a global network of youth-led climate conferences that prepare young delegates for participation in international climate negotiations, serving as national platforms where young people can develop policy positions, build advocacy skills, and select representatives for international climate forums, including the UN Climate Change Conferences (COP meetings).
LCOY Bangladesh 2025 represents more than just a conference—it serves as a platform for young people to engage directly with climate governance processes. The timing is critical as Bangladesh develops its next NDC update and seeks to align climate policies with sustainable development goals, given that the country ranks among the world's most climate-vulnerable nations, facing rising sea levels, intensifying cyclones, flooding, and drought. Participants will work to develop youth-informed recommendations for Bangladesh's climate policies, build capacity for ongoing climate advocacy among young people, create networks for sustained youth engagement in climate action, and prepare delegates for international climate forums. The conference's focus on policy advocacy reflects recognition that youth perspectives are crucial for developing climate solutions that will be implemented over decades. Conference organizers anticipate several concrete outcomes: a youth statement on Bangladesh's climate priorities for submission to government agencies, formation of working groups on specific climate issues, capacity building for participants in policy advocacy and climate communication, selection of youth delegates for potential participation in international climate forums, and development of ongoing collaboration networks among youth climate leaders. The conference organizers have launched social media campaigns using hashtags including #LCOYBangladesh2025, #ClimateAction, #YouthForClimate, #JustTransition, #NDCs, #ClimateGovernance, #BRACUniversity, and #YouthLeadership to build momentum and engage broader youth audiences, extending the conference's impact beyond the 200 physical attendees.
LCOY Bangladesh 2025 represents the growing recognition that young people must play central roles in climate decision-making, given that they will experience the long-term consequences of today's climate policies. The conference's timing coincides with increased global attention to youth climate activism and growing acknowledgment from governments and international organizations that meaningful youth participation is essential for effective climate action. As Bangladesh continues developing its climate resilience strategies, the voices and perspectives gathered at LCOY Bangladesh 2025 could influence national policy directions and international negotiating positions.
