While major rivers remain below danger levels, rapidly rising water poses inundation threats to vulnerable communities. A deep depression that formed over the northwest Bay of Bengal this week crossed India's Odisha-Andhra Pradesh coast Thursday and has weakened, but its effects continue. Heavy rainfall hit Barishal, Chattogram, and Sylhet divisions in the past 24 hours. Between October 3-6, Rangpur, Rajshahi, Mymensingh, and Sylhet districts – along with neighbouring Indian regions – may experience heavy to very heavy rain.

Teesta River (Rangpur Division): Water levels rising significantly. High Risk Alert for Lalmonirhat and Nilphamari. The Teesta is approaching danger mark. Dharla levels declining, Dudhkumar stable. Residents in low-lying areas should prepare for possible evacuation. Someshwari & Bhugai Rivers (Mymensingh Division): Both rivers swelling rapidly. Moderate to High Risk for Sherpur, Mymensingh, and Netrokona over the next 72 hours. Kangsha River remains steady. Communities near riverbanks should move valuables to higher ground. Multiple Rivers (Rangpur & Rajshahi): Karatoa, Jamuneswari, Punarbhaba, and Tangon rising. Atrai, Upper Atrai, Mahananda, and Ghaghot receding. Sharp rises expected in next three days. Monitor Closely. Coastal Rivers (Barishal, Khulna, Chattogram): Higher-than-normal tides continuing for another 24 hours. Coastal communities should remain vigilant.
